We are a group of creatives and therapists passionate about the potential to restore hope, dignity and worth through the freedom of the creative arts.
Who are Kairos Arts?
Kairos Arts create and facilitate therapeutic arts workshops by providing a safe place, where participants are able to express and explore their feelings, hopes, joys and fears through the creative arts. We encourage participants to explore positive emotional qualities, develop their understanding of themselves and others, and find creative solutions to obstacles. We currently work with women and children recovering from trauma, domestic violence, trafficking and abuse, those living with chronic illness or terminal illness, and children and young people with mental health or wellbeing needs.
How do we work?
We provide therapeutic arts programmes for groups. Usually a programme offers one workshop a week, which lasts 2-3 hours, for a six-week period. Each programme is facilitated by a minimum of two Kairos Arts Practitioners. We have a great team of experienced practitioners, and we ensure that each of our workshops are’ bespoke’ - designed uniquely for the group and individuals attending, to facilitate their therapeutic creative journey. Each workshop is fully evaluated to ensure that the highest professional standards are adhered to.
We also work with children and young people referred through their school or charity for one-to-one interventions. Each of these sessions last up to 1 hour per week for a term. If it is felt to be appropriate then work can continue longer.
Where do we work?
Why do the creative arts work?
The arts help us to express the inexpressible and can be vital for those not ready to enter a verbal therapeutic setting. The creative arts bypass the rational part of the brain and tap into the deepest part of a person. We believe that the therapeutic nature of our workshops can form an intrinsic part of the healing process for those processing trauma and pain, and empower them to rediscover a sense of self-worth.
